FAQs

The Classes

  • What do we need to wear for the classes?

We ask that our WestWayers wear all black for our classes but there is no prescriptive uniform as we want everyone to feel comfortable in what they are wearing. We do have some branded WestWay clothing which you can buy once you have signed-up, but this is not mandatory. We will be dancing so you will need to wear clothes you can move in. Trainers are fine but if you have jazz, character shoes or ballet pumps then even better!

  • What do I need to bring to the class?

We provide you with a WestWay bag, pencil, folder and water bottle as a free welcome gift. You will be required to bring these items to every session. Other than that we rarely ask you to bring anything else unless we are rehearsing for a show. Just bring lots of energy and a smile and that will be perfect!

  • Do I need to practise outside of the classes?

Practising is always a great idea to improve and develop your talent further. Plus we will be putting on performances and if you would like to take part you will need to learn the songs and dance routines, which might take a bit of practice. As we have small class sizes, we can adapt to the needs of the individual easily so let us know if there are any issues.

  • How many children are in the classes?

We pride ourselves on having small classes to give your child the attention they deserve, so we have small classes compared to other drama and academic schools. Up to 50% smaller! And we do this without a premium price tag!

  • What age can my child join?

Our dance classes, singing classes, drama classes, acting classes for children all start for children aged three plus and pre-school children. These are weekly classes taking place during the school term time.

Classes for kids aged 3-4 are 45 minutes in length and are a combination of fun activities to help build confidence, performance skills, imagination, creativity, coordination, motor skills and will prepare our minis for their first appearance on stage in a supportive and safe environment.

  • Classes for kids aged 5-7 are 2 hours in length and are split between singing, acting and dancing. This includes a snack and toilet break and time for some fun drama games that help enhance team building, communication and confidence. The young superstars start to build on performance skills and technique in dance and singing.

  • Classes for kids aged 7+ are 3 hours in length. The children will do 1 hour of singing, 1 hour of acting and 1 hour of dance. Children will still have lots of fun and will be classes based on their age, ability and maturity. Our older students may start to work on skills to enable them to audition for professional colleges with West End professionals and top Conservatoire teachers from Arts Ed, Mountview, The Dang, Urdang and more. Our classes always focus on building confidence and leading with kindness above all else.

We also offer holiday workshops, holiday clubs, holiday camps, summer workshops and a wide range of activities during the summer holidays. These holiday workshops and classes are for children aged three plus or aged five plus. All of this plus additional drama workshops and West End workshops for children aged 7+

  • Our singing lessons for children usually start for children aged six plus. With our musical theatre classes and group singing lessons your child will have the opportunity to perform in the West End

All classes are based in South-West London and West London. Clapham Junction, Battersea & Wandsworth, SW11 or Richmond and Twickenham TW1.
